Candle Jar Craft - Clams & Scallops

Clams polished by the sea and scallops colored purple, help make this candle jar craft a real looker. The design on the lid is integrated with the design on the jar by using the same style of clam seashells and scallop seashells. Even the "spine" ties into the whitish circle of clams by the use of light colored seashell pieces polished by the sea.

Candle Jar Shellcraft Project

This is my newest project. I recycled the jar from a used up candle and designed it with coquina seashell flowers. The centers of the flowers are rhinestones of different colors.

Each flower is sitting on it's own bit of beach, forming disconnected islands around the glass of the jar. The flower on the lid follows the same pattern.

Here and there in-between the flowers are pretty little scallop seashells. They are also on their own little islands of sand.

Atlantic Bubble Seashell Page

Aren't these a pretty bunch of seashells. They are called Atlantic Bubbles and I have used them in the shellcraft projects from magnets to plaques, and on some sculptures. I have picked them up during beachcombing although I can't remember exactly which beach I got them on. I have added a page to Shellcraft Guides on these small beads from the sea.

CD Craft Star pattern

I am currently on a roll with designing compact disc crafts. This one uses seashells to make the form of a star with the varied colored rhinestones representing the multi-colored forms of energy a star gives off.

Decorative shell craft jars have lots of uses. You can store things in them, you can decorate with them, or use them as lanterns by burning tea lights inside them.

Today,I added two more pages to Shellcraft Guides. The pages were added to the beach combing section of the website.

The first page deals with how to clean the seashells you find while walking along your favorite beach. It can be found at: Cleaning Seashells . I advocate using only un-occupied seashells. The ones I use have already been cleaned out by wave, sand, and wind.

For myself, the killing an animal just so its home can be taken as a souvenir is just wrong. If you ate the animal, maybe you can justify killing it and using the seashell. I digress.

Compact Disc Pages Inter-Linked

Well, another group of pages were interlinked today. Now you can go from project to project within the Compact Disc Shellcraft Projects. CD seashell arts and crafts can be hung from ceilings, beams, and walls. The one shown here is hanging from a white ceiling hook I bought at a hardware store.

Take a look for yourself and see how much easier it is to travel from project to project. While there try a project or two.

Shell Craft Tealight Holder Sculpture

A blend of seashells, shell pieces, coral, glass fish, glass crab, and a miniature tealight candle holder creates a beautiful work of art. This artificial reef scene is mounted on a glass base - the same type of glass base as the post below using the lighthouse tealight holder.

The seashell varieties used include an auger, slipper limpits, a bubble, an olive, and a courie. There are also a few unidentified shells in place. The larger shell pieces have both color - like the orange piece - and interesting shapes. Hiding in the nooks are a couple of fish and a small red crab. 3 different types of coral add their qualities to enhance the reef.

Magnet Projects Interlinked

The five pages that make up the Shellcraft decorative magnet project pages have been interlinked. You can now go from any project page to any other project page, by clicking on the link of your choice at the bottom of each page.

I plan to do this interlinking on the rest of the site with each major subsection and its related projects.

A new project page - Project 4 - has also been added to the magnets. Take a look Project 4 - Angel. The information helps you set up an "angel" design on a biz card size magnet.

Yep this old shellcrafter used to write poetry. It was during a dark time in my life, when a promising future turned into a living hell (second marriage). I published all the poetry on the publishing site Triond. If you look on the right hand side column, I have placed a widget from Triond which currently features my poetry. Turkey Wing Seashells

These are seashells that I use on some of my shellcraft art. Most times I use them as Angel "wings". They are sitting on a bed of white sand collected from the Florida Gulf Coast near Fort Myers. I added more information on Shellcraft-Guides on these Turkey Wings.

Turkey wings are also known as "Noah's Arks" supposedly because they resemble an ark when both sides of the same shell are found. They may also be call "Zebra Arks" due to the stripes that run the length of many of the shells.

Butterfly Shellcraft Magnet

Here is a pretty way to use up some of your seashell collection. Just make this simple shellcraft which uses a pattern similar to a butterfly. I used cardita seashells, doves, a clam shell, and a limpit.

The cardita's form the upper wings, the doves the lower wings, the limpit and clam form the body. Finally, the rhinestones mimic the "eyes' that many a butterfly has on the its wings and add a bit of colorful brilliance.
